For most visitors a private transfer or an official taxi makes sense — Bus 19 only runs every 30 minutes and stops short of most riads.

Official airport taxi: the cream-coloured grand taxi rank is outside Terminal 1 arrivals. The official fixed fare to the city centre is 100 MAD by day and 150 MAD at night (roughly $10–$15), but drivers often quote 200–300 MAD to tourists. Insist on the official rate posted on the rank or pre-book a transfer to avoid the negotiation entirely.
Bus 19: the Alsa airport shuttle runs between RAK and Jemaa el-Fnaa via Gueliz every 20–30 minutes from roughly 06:30 to 21:30. Tickets are 30 MAD return, journey time 30–45 minutes. Useful if you're travelling light and staying near the main square — less useful with luggage, late arrivals or a medina riad.
