Essaouira airport transfer
Private transfer from Essaouira-Mogador airport (ESU) to Essaouira costs €18+, takes 20–25 min, and includes meet-and-greet inside arrivals with a Bacharide name sign, flight tracking and 60 minutes of complimentary waiting. Mercedes vehicles, English-speaking chauffeurs, fixed price up front.
Essaouira-Mogador airport (ESU) serves Essaouira as the closest commercial airport, 20–25 min from the city centre. Most travellers face two options on arrival: queue for an unmetered taxi at the rank, or pre-book a private transfer with a fixed price agreed before they board. We exist to make the second option the obvious one.
Your chauffeur waits inside Essaouira-Mogador arrivals with a Bacharide name sign — no kerb-side scramble, no taxi queue, no fare negotiation. We track your flight automatically and adjust the pickup time if you land early or late, and we hold 60 minutes of complimentary waiting from the moment you touch down.

Essaouira-Mogador airport to town: transfer, taxi or bus?
ESU is a small airport 17 km south of the medina with only a handful of flights a week, which changes the calculation: services are timed around those flights and thin out fast when one is delayed.
| Option | Typical price | Door-to-door time | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private transfer (Bacharide) | From €18 per car | 20–25 min | Driver inside the small arrivals hall with a name sign, flight tracked, walked to your riad door inside the ramparts. Fixed price, and it is there whatever time the flight lands. |
| Grand taxi from the rank | 150–200 MAD, negotiated | 20–30 min | Taxis meet scheduled flights but do not wait around long. A delayed arrival can mean an empty forecourt and a phone call to town. |
| Airport bus / shuttle | ~20–25 MAD when running | 35–45 min | An infrequent local service timed loosely to flights, stopping at Bab Doukkala. Not something to build an arrival around. |
| Car hire | From ~300 MAD/day + parking | 25 min + desk time | One or two desks only, often unstaffed outside flight times. Essaouira's medina is entirely pedestrian, so the car sits in a guarded lot. |
Taxi and shuttle fares are typical 2026 local rates set by those operators. Our price is fixed at booking and includes flight tracking, 60 minutes of waiting and the walk to your riad door.
Onward transfers from ESU
Many travellers fly into ESU and continue directly to another Moroccan city — we run those as a single fixed-price chauffeur ride. ESU → Marrakech from €67, ESU → Agadir from €69, ESU → Sidi Kaouki from €22.
Onward transfers include the same meet-and-greet at ESU as a city pickup, plus a coffee or comfort stop en route at your request.
Essaouira-Mogador (ESU) — what to expect
Essaouira-Mogador is a single-runway regional airport 17 km south of the medina on the road to Sidi Kaouki and Agadir. It handles a small schedule — seasonal Ryanair and Transavia services from Paris, Bordeaux, Nantes, Brussels and London, plus domestic Royal Air Maroc hops — and the terminal is one hall with a couple of desks, an ATM that is not always stocked and a café that opens for flights.
The compactness is pleasant: bags arrive within ten minutes and you are outside almost immediately. The trade-off is that everything landside is scheduled around flights. If yours is delayed by two hours, the taxis that came out for it will often have gone, and there is no rank of cars idling in the way there is at Marrakech or Agadir. This is the single biggest reason to arrange the pickup before you fly.
Getting to a riad inside the ramparts
Essaouira's walled medina is entirely pedestrian — no vehicle of any kind goes inside. Cars stop at Bab Doukkala, Bab Marrakech or the Place Moulay Hassan car park depending on where your riad sits, and the final stretch is on foot over cobbles.
Our drivers know which gate is closest to each derb and carry your bags in rather than leaving you at whichever gate is convenient. If you would rather not walk at all, the medina's porters with handcarts wait at every gate for a small tip — your driver will find you one.
Onward from ESU along the coast
Sidi Kaouki, the windsurf and yoga beach 25 km south, is closer to the airport than the medina is and a common direct drop-off. Diabat and the Mogador dunes are a few minutes out on the same road.
Longer legs run in one fixed-price ride: Marrakech inland on the N8 in about 2h45, and Agadir down the Atlantic N1 in around 2h30 with an optional stop at Imsouane. Boards travel free in the vans on either route.
