Fes to Agadir, the comfortable way.

Fes to Agadir is 715 km by road — roughly 9h15 in a private car by way of Rabat, Nouaceur (skirting Casablanca) and Marrakech. It is Morocco's sunniest resort, with year-round beach weather, family hotels along the bay and golf courses inland, and the drive in is part of the story.
Who makes the Fes to Agadir trip
Why this trip? Fes is usually a two- or three-night stop, left for the Sahara, Chefchaouen or the long run back to Marrakech. As for Agadir, it is Morocco's sunniest resort, with year-round beach weather, family hotels along the bay and golf courses inland. Few people make this 715 km crossing in one go, and we would rather say so plainly: it is booked by travellers who have a fixed flight or hotel at the far end and would rather cover the distance in one private day than stitch together buses and grand taxis.
The road from Fes to Agadir
West of Fes the A2 passes Meknes — with Volubilis a short detour — then Khemisset and the Maâmora cork forest into Rabat. From Rabat the coastal motorway heads south and bypasses Casablanca on the east to reach Mohammed V without entering the city. South of Mohammed V the A7 crosses the Chaouia wheat plains past Berrechid, Settat and Benguerir, then drops over the Jbilet hills into Marrakech. South of Marrakech the A7 crosses the Chichaoua plain, then climbs through the western High Atlas near Imi n'Tanout and Argana on a spectacular stretch of tunnels and viaducts before descending to the Souss. Good places to break the drive: the Roman ruins of Volubilis (detour), the Settat service area and the Sidi Bou Othmane service area.
Arriving in Agadir
Agadir is a modern beach city rebuilt after the 1960 earthquake — a 6 km sandy bay with a promenade, a marina at the north end and the Kasbah hill above it. Hotels line the promenade and the Founty district; most have a drive-up entrance, so this is one of the easiest drop-offs in the country.
Should you split the journey?
At 9h15 this is a full day in the car. We run it in one day for anyone who wants that — with breaks every two hours or so — but many travellers prefer to split it. The natural halfway point is Marrakech: Marrakech is the natural halfway house for almost any north–south crossing. Book two one-way legs and the driver meets you again the next morning.
Before you go
Around 300 days of sun; winter days still reach the low 20s °C, which is why it fills with European visitors from November to March. From Agadir, Taghazout's surf villages are 30 minutes north and Paradise Valley's palm gorge under an hour inland. The return leg, Agadir to Fes, has its own page and the same per-vehicle pricing.
Private car, coach, grand taxi or train?
The fastest way from Fes to Agadir is a private transfer: about 9 h 15 door to door for a fixed €428 for the whole vehicle. The coach is cheaper per person but adds a transfer at each end and roughly an hour of waiting; a shared grand taxi only leaves once six seats are sold.
| Option | Typical price | Journey time | Door to door | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private transfer (Bacharide) | from €428 per vehicle | 9 h 15 | Yes | Fixed fare for the whole car, hotel-door pickup, luggage and child seats included, flight tracked. |
| CTM / Supratours coach | ~€50 per person | 12 h 60 | No | Cheapest option, but fixed departure times, station-to-station, and luggage is charged by the bag. |
| Shared grand taxi | ~€65 per seat | 10 h 45 | No | Leaves only when six seats are sold. No seatbelts in the rear, no boot space for large cases. |
| Self-drive hire car | ~€115 per day + fuel | 9 h 45 | Yes | Flexible, but you handle the mountain passes, city parking and the deposit hold. |
Coach, grand taxi and rail figures are typical published fares and timings for Moroccan operators (CTM, Supratours, ONCF) and vary by season. Only the Bacharide fare is fixed and quoted at booking.
