The Atlantic coast road between Essaouira and Agadir
Essaouira → Agadir · 175 km

Essaouira to Agadir transfer

A private Essaouira to Agadir transfer covers 175 km in 2h30–3h door-to-door and starts from €41 for the whole car, not per person. The coastal N1 via Tamanar and Imsouane is the scenic option and the one we use; it is only marginally slower than the inland road and passes the fishing coves most people came to see. Fuel, tolls, luggage and a professional English-speaking driver are included in the fixed price.

Essaouira to Agadir is the classic Moroccan surf-coast leg — 175 km of Atlantic road linking the windsurfing town to the point breaks around Taghazout and Tamraght. It is the connection almost every two-centre trip needs, and the one with the fewest good public options.

There is no train, and the coach involves a station at each end plus a timetable built for locals rather than travellers with board bags. A private transfer runs it door to door in about 2h45, with boards and cases carried free and an optional stop at Imsouane on the way, where the right-hand point break is one of the longest rides in Africa.

Onward drop-offs are the same fixed price whether you are going to Agadir bay, the airport for a flight out, Taghazout, Tamraght or Aourir — tell us the address at booking and we will send the vehicle that fits your luggage.

Essaouira to Agadir: transfer, bus or taxi?

Three realistic ways to cover the coast between Essaouira and Agadir. The gap is widest for surfers and families, who lose most to the luggage limits on the public options.

The coast road and the Imsouane stop

The N1 hugs the Atlantic for most of the way south, through the argan hills around Tamanar and past a string of fishing villages. It is a good road, two lanes, with a few slow sections behind trucks on the climbs.

Imsouane sits about halfway, a 15-minute detour off the main road. The bay there produces one of the longest right-hand waves in Africa, and even if you are not surfing it is the best coffee-and-photograph stop on the route. One stop is included in your fixed price.

Continuing to Taghazout, Tamraght or the airport

Taghazout and Tamraght are on the way into Agadir from the north, so a drop-off there is shorter than the city itself and priced the same. Agadir Al Massira airport (AGA) is 25 km beyond the city on the inland side — allow 3h15 in total from Essaouira and add your check-in time.

If you are flying out of Essaouira-Mogador (ESU) instead, that airport is only 17 km from the Essaouira medina and we run that as a short local transfer.
