The road from Marrakech to Tamraght
South of Marrakech the A7 crosses the Chichaoua plain, then climbs through the western High Atlas near Imi n'Tanout and Argana on a spectacular stretch of tunnels and viaducts before descending to the Souss. North of Agadir the N1 runs along the ocean through Anza and Aourir — the 'Banana Village' roadside stalls — before the first surf villages appear. The final stretch: tamraght is a few kilometres south of Taghazout on the same coast road, between Aourir and Banana Point. Good places to break the drive: the service area near Imi n'Tanout, the Argana viewpoints and the Aourir banana stalls.
Arriving in Tamraght
Tamraght is Taghazout's quieter neighbour, a hillside village of surf houses and yoga retreats overlooking Banana Beach and Devil's Rock. The upper village is accessed by narrow lanes; some retreats ask guests to meet at the main-road pharmacy or the Tamraght mosque.
