Zagora to Marrakech, the comfortable way.

Who makes the Zagora to Marrakech trip
Why this trip? People leave Zagora the morning after a desert night, or continue east along the pre-Saharan road. As for Marrakech, most visitors come for the medina itself: a riad stay, the souks, the Majorelle Garden and evenings on Jemaa el-Fnaa.
The road from Zagora to Marrakech
North of Zagora the N9 follows the Draa valley's palms and kasbahs to Agdz, then crosses the Tizi n'Tinififft pass to Ouarzazate. From Ouarzazate the road passes the Atlas film studios and crosses the plateau to Aït Benhaddou. From Aït Benhaddou the road joins the N9 and climbs north over the Tizi n'Tichka pass at 2,260 m, then twists down through Atlas villages into Marrakech. Good places to break the drive: Agdz's kasbahs, the Atlas film studios and the Tizi n'Tichka pass.
Arriving in Marrakech
Marrakech is Morocco's busiest tourist city — a walled medina of souks and riads around Jemaa el-Fnaa, with the modern Guéliz and Hivernage districts and the Palmeraie villas outside the walls. Cars cannot enter most medina lanes. Drivers stop at the nearest gate or square (Bab Doukkala, Riad Zitoun, Dar el-Bacha) and your riad usually sends a porter with a trolley — give us the riad's name so we can arrange it.
Before you go
Spring and autumn are ideal; July and August regularly pass 40 °C, so midday arrivals are best spent indoors. From Marrakech, Marrakech is the easiest place in Morocco to chain the next leg from — Essaouira, the Atlas valleys and Ouarzazate are all within three to four hours. The return leg, Marrakech to Zagora, has its own page and the same per-vehicle pricing.
