The road from Tamraght to Marrakech
Tamraght is a few kilometres south of Taghazout on the same coast road, between Aourir and Banana Point. Heading south, the N1 leaves the surf coast at Aourir's banana stalls and follows the shore through Anza into Agadir's port district. From Agadir the A7 motorway climbs through the argan-covered western High Atlas by Amskroud and Argana — tunnels, viaducts and long views — then descends across the Chichaoua plain to Marrakech. Good places to break the drive: the Aourir banana stalls, the service area near Imi n'Tanout and the Argana viewpoints.
Arriving in Marrakech
Marrakech is Morocco's busiest tourist city — a walled medina of souks and riads around Jemaa el-Fnaa, with the modern Guéliz and Hivernage districts and the Palmeraie villas outside the walls. Cars cannot enter most medina lanes. Drivers stop at the nearest gate or square (Bab Doukkala, Riad Zitoun, Dar el-Bacha) and your riad usually sends a porter with a trolley — give us the riad's name so we can arrange it.
