From Aït Benhaddou the road joins the N9 and climbs north over the Tizi n'Tichka pass at 2,260 m, then twists down through Atlas villages into Marrakech. The final stretch: the Agafay stone desert begins about 35 km south-west of Marrakech, reached via the Amizmiz road. Good places to break the drive: the Dades gorge at Boumalne, the rose valley at Kelaat M'Gouna and the Skoura palmery.
