The road from Casablanca to Fes

Arriving in Fes
Fes is Morocco's oldest imperial city — Fes el-Bali is the largest car-free medina in the world, a maze of tanneries, madrasas and craft workshops. Vehicles stop at the medina gates — Bab Boujloud, Bab Guissa or R'cif — and riads send someone to walk you in. Without a guide the lanes are genuinely confusing, so wait for them.
