Plan on about 4h05 for the 335 km between Ouarzazate and Taghazout, following the N10 via Taliouine, the N10 through the Souss and finally the N1 coast road. Ouarzazate is the gateway town to the Moroccan south — home to the Taourirt kasbah, the Atlas film studios and the Noor solar plant, at 1,100 m on a stony plateau.

The road from Ouarzazate to Taghazout
West of Ouarzazate the N10 crosses the high Siroua plateau through Tazenakht, known for its carpets, and Taliouine, Morocco's saffron capital, before descending into the Souss valley at Taroudant. West of Taroudant the N10 runs through the flat Souss valley, lined with orange and banana orchards, to Agadir. North of Agadir the N1 runs along the ocean through Anza and Aourir — the 'Banana Village' roadside stalls — before the first surf villages appear. Good places to break the drive: a saffron cooperative in Taliouine, the carpet cooperatives of Tazenakht and the Aourir banana stalls.
Arriving in Taghazout
Taghazout is a former fishing village 20 km north of Agadir that has become Morocco's surf capital, with point breaks like Anchor Point and Killer Point and a newer resort development, Taghazout Bay, just south of it.
