Sidi Kaouki to Taghazout, the comfortable way.

Plan on about 1h30 for the 115 km between Sidi Kaouki and Taghazout, following the N1 through argan country and finally the N1 cliff road. Sidi Kaouki is a hamlet of guesthouses behind a vast, wild beach south of Essaouira, marked by the white marabout of the saint it is named after.
Who makes the Sidi Kaouki to Taghazout trip
Why this trip? People leave Sidi Kaouki to catch a flight or to swap the solitude for a few days in a bigger town. As for Taghazout, almost everyone comes to surf — a week at a surf camp, yoga above the waves, or the right-hand point breaks in winter swell. Between surf spots, the real driver is swell: when one break goes flat or overcrowded, the next is 1h30 away, and boards travel free in the car.
The road from Sidi Kaouki to Taghazout
Sidi Kaouki lies 25 km south of Essaouira, reached by a side road off the N1 through argan country. South of Essaouira the N1 heads inland through Smimou and Tamanar's argan hills — the stretch where goats famously climb the trees — before cutting back towards the coast at Imsouane. Southbound from Imsouane the coast road passes Tamri's banana plantations and the Cap Ghir lighthouse before dropping into the surf villages. Good places to break the drive: an argan oil cooperative near Tamanar, goats in the argan trees around Smimou and the Cap Ghir lighthouse viewpoint.
Arriving in Taghazout
Taghazout is a former fishing village 20 km north of Agadir that has become Morocco's surf capital, with point breaks like Anchor Point and Killer Point and a newer resort development, Taghazout Bay, just south of it. The old village is a tangle of steep lanes; many surf houses are reached on foot from the main road. Tell us your camp's name — drivers know where each one meets guests.
Before you go
Surf season is October to April; summer is flatter, warmer and busier with Moroccan families. From Taghazout, Imsouane's long right-hander is 45 minutes further up the coast. The return leg, Taghazout to Sidi Kaouki, has its own page and the same per-vehicle pricing.

| CTM / Supratours coach | ~€10 per person | 2 h 30 | No | Cheapest option, but fixed departure times, station-to-station, and luggage is charged by the bag. |

| Self-drive hire car | ~€45 per day + fuel | 1 h 30 | Yes | Flexible, but you handle the mountain passes, city parking and the deposit hold. |
