North of Imsouane the road turns inland through rolling argan hills around Tamanar and Smimou, where women's cooperatives sell argan oil at the roadside, then rejoins the coast at Essaouira. The final stretch: sidi Kaouki lies 25 km south of Essaouira, reached by a side road off the N1 through argan country. Good places to break the drive: the Cap Ghir lighthouse viewpoint, Tamri's banana plantations and an argan oil cooperative near Tamanar.
