South of Marrakech the A7 crosses the Chichaoua plain, then climbs through the western High Atlas near Imi n'Tanout and Argana on a spectacular stretch of tunnels and viaducts before descending to the Souss. North of Agadir the N1 runs along the ocean through Anza and Aourir — the 'Banana Village' roadside stalls — before the first surf villages appear. The final stretch: aghroud sits on the coast just south of Tamraght, between the Aourir junction and Banana Point. Good places to break the drive: the service area near Imi n'Tanout, the Argana viewpoints and the Aourir banana stalls.
Arriving in Aghroud
Aghroud is a small stretch of surf coast between Aourir and Tamraght, known for its sand-bottom beach break and a few low-key guesthouses. Addresses here are rarely numbered — share a pin or your host's phone number so the driver can call on approach.
Before you go
