Al Massira Airport lies inland at Temsia, about 25 km south-east of the Agadir seafront via the N10. From Agadir the A7 motorway climbs through the argan-covered western High Atlas by Amskroud and Argana — tunnels, viaducts and long views — then descends across the Chichaoua plain to Marrakech. The final stretch: the Agafay stone desert begins about 35 km south-west of Marrakech, reached via the Amizmiz road. Good places to break the drive: the service area near Imi n'Tanout and the Argana viewpoints.
Arriving in Agafay
Agafay is a rocky desert plateau with the High Atlas as a backdrop, dotted with luxury tented camps and ecolodges within an hour of Marrakech. Camps are reached on unpaved tracks; the last few kilometres are slow, and some camps meet cars at a marked junction.
