The road from Safi to Agafay
South of Safi the road hugs the coast past Souiria Kdima's fishing beach, then crosses the Had Draa farmland towards Essaouira. Leaving Essaouira the road passes through argan forest to Ounagha, then crosses the flat Chiadma plain to the Chichaoua junction and runs east into Marrakech with the High Atlas on the right. The final stretch: the Agafay stone desert begins about 35 km south-west of Marrakech, reached via the Amizmiz road. Good places to break the drive: Souiria Kdima beach, the argan cooperatives at Ounagha and a café stop at Chichaoua.
