The northern emirates take longer. Dubai airport to Ajman is roughly 35 km up the E11, normally 30–45 minutes and closer to an hour in the evening peak; Sharjah is 15 km, Ras Al Khaimah about 110 km. Because the fare is fixed per vehicle before you travel, a slow run on the E11 costs exactly the same as a clear one — unlike a meter.
